I was pretty pleased with the factory Bose speakers in my car. Unfortunately, one of the back speakers finally blew out after 14 years. I auditioned three other sets of speakers -- a pair of Pioneers, a pair of Kenwoods, and even a pair of Alpine S-series -- before finally settling on the R-series. They were the only pair that could handle the power put out by the factory amp, and they were the only ones that came close to replicating the bass put out by the Bose speakers they were replacing.
Compare these side-by-side with just about any "commonplace" 6.5-inch speakers and they're much deeper and have a much bigger magnet. Take that as a clue. The reason these speakers cost twice as much (or more) as many 6.5" coaxial car speaker sets sold here is because they sound twice as good and put out at least twice the bass. If you want truly good sound from a 6.5" speaker and you're not dealing with an unusually shallow mounting space, don't cheap out -- don't even get the less expensive Alpine S-series. Go for the R-series. Spend the extra money for these speakers because they are completely and totally worth it. But I want to reiterate that these are for systems with an external amp, so make sure you've got the power to move 'em -- the 20-some watts per channel coming from your head unit won't be enough.

Frame Sequential Technology: Full HD Signals for Each Eye
The method used to send left-eye and right-eye 3D images viewers is key to the 3D image quality, and Full HD 3D uses what's called Frame Sequential technology. The GT25 series plasma display panel allows images for each eye to be alternately reproduced at the rate of 60 frames per second (fps), making a total fps for both eyes. Viewers watch the images through high-precision 3D Eyewear (not included), which open and close the left and right shutters in synchronization with the alternating images. As a result, a separate 1920 x 1080 full-HD image is sent to each eye. This addresses the image quality problems and blurring that were common to earlier 3D systems, and creates sharp, crisp 3D images.
The Frame Sequential Technology requires images to be displayed at 1/120 of a second--twice as fast as ordinary full-HD images. If the luminescence time for each frame were simply shortened, the screen brightness would be lowered. To solve this problem, panasonic shortened the luminescence time and raised the luminescence intensity, to keep things bright and detailed.
Crosstalk Reduction Technology: Clear 3D Display with Minimal Afterimage
As mentioned above, the Frame Sequential technology shortens the luminescence time for each frame. If the pixel afterglow remains unchanged, the previous image will remain as an afterimage when the next image is produced. Newly developed fast-decay R and G phosphors reduce the afterimage time to 1/3, to ensure 3D images are displayed with no visible afterimage.
3D Eyewear: High-Precision Shutter Control Sends Clear Images to Each Eye

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

This is a great TV : Panasonic VIERA TC-P42GT25 42-inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, Black
I purchased this TV because my wallspace was limited to 42". I wanted a high quality television with 3D capability, and reviews indicated that plasmas had better 3D performance than LCDs. This is the only 42" plasma 3D television on the market, so I had to go with this model.
Purchasing through Amazon was straightforward. I did get a Blu-ray player and the new rechargeable glasses along with Avatar Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 Ultimate 3D Starter Kit (Avatar 3D + 2 Rechargeable Glasses). The shipping agent contacted me the next day to discuss delivery. Ultimately my television came a day later than expected, but the shipping agent me notified me ahead of time and it wasn't a major issue for me.
The television is great. Setting the picture to THX mode gives an excellent picture out of the box with good color quality and very rich, deep blacks. Serious tech-heads will want to tweak it further, but for the casual user it won't be necessary. 3D mode was very easy to use... I thought it would be a hassle to setup, but other than charging the glasses and turning them on, it wasn't any more of an issue than watching a regular DVD.
The 3D mode is very convincing. Instead of being artificial and gimmicky, it really draws you into the movie by adding an additional element of realism. Sitting 10 feet away it was very lifelike and uncanny. I noticed few artifacts, although there was some issue with crosstalk in certain scenes but it wasn't seriously distracting. Crosstalk was also not consistent to any one feature (bright objects, objects in the background, etc.), making me think how the 3D effect is implemented is a factor into whether or not there is crosstalk. Hopefully film-makers will figure this out over time to help eliminate crosstalk completely.
Standing as far away from the television as I could, which was partway up my back staircase, at around 20' the glasses would lose sync with the television and go out of 3D mode. So that seems the extreme limit... although still at that distance the 3D effect was still realistic prior to losing sync...
Ordering from Amazon was a good experience. The TV came with a 14 day price guarantee and free shipping. My shipping agent contacted me the day after my order to schedule delivery. The day before the delivery date they contacted me again to say the TV was late and rescheduled to the next day. This was not a big deal for me.
Two weeks after I purchased it, the price dropped on Amazon's site. I did have to get transferred to a special "hard cases" unit, but once I reached them and they verified the new price, they refunded the difference to me without further hassle as per the 14 day price guarantee.
I'd recommend this television to anyone looking for a smaller 3D unit. This is the only 42" plasma 3D television I am aware of, and it delivers well in both 2D and 3D.
